Trash Hunter Category Rules
  1. The area that the robots will be inside is a square of 2 x 2 m, with its base in black color. Outside of this area will be a white colored region of 5 cm thickness. For detailed information, please look at the drawings of category.
  2. Robots that come out of this area will be punished with a 10 point penalty. 
  3. In the area there will be 10 trash items (empty tin soda can, which is cut at 5 cm height and orange colored) in total. 
  4. For every trash item that is put into horizontal trash cans, the robot will recieve 15 points.
  5. For every trash item that is put into vertical trash can, the robot will recieve 40 points. For the items which are put together into this can, please look at 14. rule.
  6. The horizontal trash cans will be located at each edge of the area. The horizontal trash cans may be at various distances from the corners, the given figure is only an example. There will be 3 cm long white colored lines spaced 5 cm away from each other and located perpendicularly in the area in front of the trash cans. The width of these lines is 2 cm.
  7. Total competition time is 5 minutes, the points will be calculated at the end of this time. In case of a tie, the robot to reach the points in a shorter time interval is placed above the others. 
  8. The dimensions of the horizontal trash can is as follows; height 10 cm, depth 30 cm, width 20 cm. The opening of the trash can is directed to the area.
  9. The vertical trash can, located at the center of the area, is a cylinder of a 20 cm radius and 15 cm height. The opening of the vertical trash can is directed upwards.
  10. It is forbidden to harm the trash cans and the area. Robots that do not      obey these rules are disqualified.
  11. If the robot falls over and cannot move, the referee puts it an appropriate place and it will be punished with 5 points.
  12. If the robot do not move for 30 seconds, it will be located an appropriate place by the referee. Then it will continue.
  13. During the competition, if any trash item goes out of the area (except the horizontal trash cans), robot will be punished with 3 points and the item will be located at an appropriate place by the referee.

    If more than 4 items are put into the vertical trash together, robot will recieve 100 points for every items that are put.
  15. Robots participating in the competition have to be autonomous.

METU Robotics Society holds its right to make changes in the rules without any justification, when necessary.

Objections to the decisions will be taken into account only in written application form.
The written applications are submitted to the organization committee. The committee 
will meet at the beginning of every hour and discuss the submitted written applications.
The final decisions, not to accept any further objections, will be announced as soon as possible.
