Stair Climber Category Rules

1) Robots will ascend and then descend the stairs.

2) Ranking will be made according to the highest number of steps that the robot has reached and then to the time taken to reach this number of steps. For details and numbers of steps, please look at the drawings of category.

3) Competition will consist of a single phase. The first half of the stair, consisting of 5 steps to be ascended will be straight and the second half after 5th step to be descended will be curved. For detailed information, please see the pictures.

4) In case the robot falls down from the stairs to outside, the robot will be put back to the final step it had been, if it had fallen down before the 5th step and the robot will be put back to the 5th step, if it had fallen down from or after the 5th step.

5) Robots must pass from each step and from the finish line in the same position as its starting position.

6) The allowed time will be 5 minutes for each participant.

7) The height of the steps will be 100±2 mm for both types of steps. The use of pallets, wheels and robot legs are permitted. The wheel radius can be 100 mm at most and the length of the pallet can be 300 mm at most.

8) The dimension of the stairs are specified in the figures.

9) The floor of the stairs will be in white color. The floor at the highest-level, which is the 5th step, is in black color. Robots will start leaned to the starting line, which is a straight black line perpendicular to the stairs. Robots will complete the competition when they pass from the finish line completely, that is in the same type with starting line.

10) In case that the robot remains motionless on one of the steps for more than 20 seconds, if the participant request, another chance will be given to restart(with a 20 minute revision time). If  the situation is repeated again, this right can not be given.

11) Before the competition starts, a practice time will be given to the participants for the trial of their robots.
